How a pet portrait hoodie gets made
Every pet portrait starts with a photo. Upload a clear shot of your pet on the product page, ideally facing the camera with good light on their face. Our art team turns the photo into a clean line drawing, the kind that translates well into thread, and queues it on one of our 13 industrial Melbourne embroidery machines.
The garment is made to order. We don't keep finished pet hoodies on a shelf because every one is different. Order placed today, in your hands within two weeks. If you'd like to see the drawing before we stitch, add the draft approval option on the product page and we'll email you a preview within three business days.
What we stitch onto
The collection spans the full RK range so you can pick the weight, fit and silhouette that suits the wearer. Lightweight tees and long-sleeves through to mid-weight crewnecks, heavyweight 380GSM hoodies, oversized fits, kids and youth sizes, and totes for the people who'd rather carry their pet than wear them. Pricing ranges from around $65 for a tote to $129 for a heavyweight pet hoodie.
Why machine embroidery, and why 13 machines
Embroidery doesn't peel, crack or fade the way print does. A pet portrait stitched with quality polyester thread will outlast the garment underneath. We chose machine embroidery because it gives every customer the same level of detail on every order, hoop after hoop, year after year.
The 13 machines aren't a gimmick. They're how we keep production at two weeks instead of two months while every order stays custom. Each machine runs the file generated specifically for your pet, so the head turn, the ear angle, the markings, all of it matches your photo.
A pet portrait hoodie as a gift
Pet portraits sit at the top of the "actually thoughtful" gift list. Birthdays, Christmas, Mother's Day, Father's Day, anniversaries, housewarmings, retirements. The brief is the same: someone loves a specific animal and you want them to know you noticed. A photo on a phone gets buried; a photo on a hoodie gets worn to the supermarket on a Tuesday.
Add their pet's name underneath the portrait in the customiser, or a meaningful date. The first embroidery placement is included in the price; extra spots are available at checkout if you want a name on the sleeve or a second design on the back.
Memorial pets
Some of the most meaningful orders we make are for pets that have passed. The portrait keeps the dog, cat or rabbit close in a quiet, daily way. There's no special memorial product line because the rest of our pet range works exactly the same way. If you'd like to know what we've learned from making these orders, we wrote a short guide: A guide to memorial pet embroidery in Australia.
